Buck (From the What The Buck Show. Amazing youtube show, must watch) gave me advice on his July 21, 2008 live show! It was amazing! My post from the forum is below:
"Hi everyone!
So I'm 17 years old, 5'3" and 140 pounds, within what is considered my age's normal weight range. However my mom is bugging me about my weight. Every now and then she will make a comment like 'you need to start working out'. Finally I told her that I was happy with who I am and that I didn't need to change for anyone. She still bugs me about my weight.
Anyone have any advice on how to get my mom to stop bugging me about my weight? I love myself and am confident no matter what my weight is and I just wish my mom would understand that."
Click Here For the Live Show The time where he starts talking is 20:17. If you don't want to watch it I transcribed it below:
"More advice. Listen up, prehaps you have a similiar problem. This one kind of got to me. This one made me a little upset. This is from Missmeggie. Mom bugging me about my weight.
You go girl! She still bugs me about my weight.
Anyone have any advice on how to get my mom to stop bugging me about my weight? I love myself and am confident no matter what my weight is and I just wish my mom would understand that." Well you- yay! Seriously, I applaud you, I love your confidence, your right 5'3" 140 that's normal. That's definietely not- you know. Here's the thing- god they suck! Sometimes, parents think they're helping. I know it's hard to understand but they do. Even though they're hurting your feelings and being really annoying they think they're trying to help you and your mom's probably really thin too or she maybe was picked on when she was chubby but who knows.
Anyway, it's wonderful that you assurted yourself- I- ugh- this is so annoying because you asserted yourself and communicated and your 17 and you said to her don't do this it bothers me and she still does it. I think you should find out say 'mom, what bothers you about yourself' and maybe it's her thighs or her nose or that mole and everytime she brings up your weight you should bring up her mole. I'm serious, she's playing dirty with you. You told her it bothered you and she keeps doing it. I don't know. Ignore her and smile. I guess that's what you have to do right? If someone's annoying you like that you just have to ignore them and smile because you've already brought it up and you did the mature thing and she didn't respond to it. Or here this is really good if you're desperate. Pass out. Pretend to pass out, they'll take you to the hospital and then tell you haven't eaten in 3 days because you said I was so fat mom so I haven't eaten in three days. And then play her this song" Then he played "This is Me" by Demi and Joe."
But it's a lot better to see and hear him say it because it's a lot funnier then.
My heart skipped a beat when he read my username. I was so touched that he read my post and gave me advice with 900 people watching! He started by saying that my situation made him so mad then read my username and post. Then he gave me advice (which I'll post or transcribe over here). Last, he said I should *insert advice* then play this song for my mom and started playing "This Is Me" by Demi and Joe. That was really cool because it kind of felt like he played it was for me, even if he didn't.
I just wanted to share because I was so excited and I hope that if someone else that is reading this is dealing with the same problem Buck's advice helped you in some way.
